Track of the Week: Oct 08 – Oct 15

Here is the second instalment of our weekly awards show! We run this little award segment to summarise the week in music, stating to you our track of the week, independent track of the week and the worst track of the week! If you haven’t already read the rules or don’t understand how you can be picked for this award, then please head over to our last post here: https://stringbuzzblog.wordpress.com/2016/10/08/track-of-the-week-oct-01-oct-08/

Remember that the track doesn’t necessarily have to of come out this week, but it should of at least had it’s major push and coverage during this week. We give up to a month’s leeway for independent tracks as they are often submitted a while after uploading. So if you see a track here that came out Oct 1st or even slightly earlier, know that it’s inclusion is due to it’s attention on the site during the current week.

So with no further adieu, we present to you the best and worse in music from Oct 08 – 15!

Track of the Week:

Shudder – Youth Salute

Honourable Mentions:

Take Me – Korn

Hoodwinker – Enter Shikari

Million Dollar Loan – Death Cab For Cutie

Independent Track of the Week:

Shudder – Youth Salute

Worst Track of the Week:

Frequency – Kid Cudi

Honourable Mentions:

Youngblood – Green Day

Ain’t My Fault – Zara Larsson

Jump Around – KSI ft. Waka Flocka Flame

Don’t Wanna Know – Maroon 5 ft. Kendrick Lamar

Black Beatles – Rae Sremmurd ft. Gucci Mane

So there we are! A huge first here with an independent group stealing both top spots and convincingly too, by far the biggest surprise of the week and one of my favourite tracks out this month. Hugely disappointing week everywhere else however with every sector of the industry seemingly crumbling. The pop music sucked, the pop punk stuff blew, the rap tracks were weak and the lack of invention was almost stunning. Let’s hope for a more rounded show next week!
