The ex Take That star and incredibly influential showman Robbie Williams has managed to go straight to number one with his brand new album ‘The Heavy Entertainment Show’ and by doing so has actually broken the Official Chart record for a British solo act; how crazy is that!?
His eleventh studio album sold over 67,000 records, absolutely phenomenal in the modern music climate. Since topping the official albums chart with his debut solo record all the way back in 1998, ten of Robbie’s eleven records have reached number one; ten number one albums, that’s unbelievable!
As a soloist he pushes past David Bowie as the British solo artist with the most number one albums in the UK Official Albums Chart. This milestone ties him with Madonna too; he must have perfect situational releases! Some how, Elvis Presley is the only solo act with more number one albums in chart history, grabbing his thirteenth two weeks ago with a re-release of material (doesn’t count if you ask me).
‘The Heavy Entertainment Show’s performance also makes the album 2016’s fourth fastest-selling behind David Bowie’s Blackstar, Drake’s Views and Beyoncé’s Lemonade; when you think of all the big releases this year, this one really takes the cake.
